Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about my electrical consulting services.
General Questions
Who is this consulting service for?
Anyone who needs fast, expert electrical guidance — homeowners, RV owners, DIYers, contractors, and people who need second opinions on electrical issues.
Do you need to come to my house?
No. Most electrical problems can be diagnosed remotely through video, photos, and a guided walkthrough — saving time and money.
What types of electrical problems can you help with?
Troubleshooting, breaker issues, RV electrical, outlet/panel problems, lighting, generators, remodel planning, NEC questions, and general safety concerns.
Are your consults safe?
Yes — I guide you step-by-step and only recommend safe actions. If something requires an on-site electrician, I’ll tell you immediately.
How My Electrical Consults Work
How does a remote electrical consultation work?
We connect by phone or video call. You show me the issue, I ask questions, and I walk you through diagnostics step-by-step. Most electrical problems can be identified in minutes with the right guidance.
What do I need before the call?
A charged phone, decent lighting, and the ability to show me the area. If you can send pictures beforehand, that helps too — but it’s optional.
What if you can’t solve my issue remotely?
If it requires in-person work or tools you don’t have, I’ll clearly explain the problem and tell you exactly what an on-site electrician needs to do. You won’t be left guessing.
Do you offer same-day help?
Yes — most days I offer same-day or next-day scheduling so you can get help fast when something goes wrong.
Will you tell me if the issue is dangerous?
Absolutely. Safety comes first. If something is unsafe, I’ll tell you immediately and explain exactly what you should do next.
Technical Questions
Can you help with RV electrical problems?
Yes — RV electrical is one of my specialties. I can help with shore power issues, converters, inverters, battery systems, AC/DC faults, and generator hookups.
Can you help me diagnose panel or breaker issues?
Absolutely. I’ve worked on thousands of panels. I can help identify bad breakers, loose connections, overloads, miswirings, and code issues.
Can you help with NEC code questions or remodel planning?
Yes — I can walk you through code requirements, layout planning, load calculations, and help you avoid expensive mistakes during renovations.
Can you review photos or video of my issue?
Yes — you can send photos before the call, or show me live during the session. This often speeds up troubleshooting significantly.
Do you help with generators or transfer switches?
Yes — I can guide you through safe generator setup, transfer switch wiring, interlock kits, load sizing, and general safety.
Payments & Scheduling
How do I pay for a consultation?
All payments are handled securely through Calendly using Stripe. You’ll pay when you book your appointment — no invoices, no chasing payments.
Do I have to pay before the call?
Yes, payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your time and prevent no-shows.
Can I reschedule?
Yes — as long as it’s more than 2 hours before your appointment, you can reschedule directly through your confirmation email.
What happens if the session goes longer than the booked time?
Extra time is billed at $125/hr, charged in 15-minute increments. I’ll always let you know before we go into overtime.
Do you offer refunds?
If the issue can’t be addressed remotely or there’s a technical problem preventing the call, I’ll work with you to find a fair solution.
